Operations management team

James Vavasour oversees the global MWS activities across offshore marine and energy installations, including oil and gas, renewables, MODUs, heavy-lift transports, and wet tows.  

Since joining in September 2023, James has led international operations with technical precision. A graduate Naval Architect and Fellow of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, he is a founding member and former Chair of SOMWS and a recognized thought leader in risk prevention services in the energy insurance sector. 

A Chartered Geologist, Michele brings over 20 years of international experience in geoscience, working across Oil & Gas and Offshore Wind projects.  

Michele joined Global Maritime in 2022. She leads GM’s Geoscience business stream, driving innovation across five core disciplines:  Geophysics, Engineering Geology, Geospatial Information Systems, Geotechnical Engineering and Subsea Cables. 

Rolf Åge Vågen has been with Global Maritime since 2011 and stepped into a leadership role in July 2025. Over the years, he has held a range of positions across engineering, software, and marine operations.  

He now oversees the strategic direction and financial performance of the marine operations business stream, with a strong focus on operational excellence and sustainable growth.  

Rolf brings extensive offshore expertise, with experience spanning both the Oil & Gas and Renewables sectors – enabling valuable knowledge transfer across disciplines. 

Kevin has been with Global Maritime since 2008. He began his career as a Naval Architect delivering engineering services across design studies, mooring systems, vessel stability, and hydrodynamics. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering.  

In 2015, he took on the role of Country Manager for Global Maritime’s Canadian operations. He now leads the strategic and commercial direction of the engineering and software business stream, providing technical guidance across all regions where the company operates. 

John Butler is a Chartered Marine Engineer and Fellow of the IMarEST, bringing over 25 years of experience in the marine and offshore sectors. His diverse career spans subsea construction, consultancy, and project management.

Since joining Global Maritime in 2021 as Head of Oil & Gas and Energy Transition, John has taken the lead of the Marine Services Business Stream, focusing on diversification and the continued delivery of high-quality services to clients worldwide.

Group leadership

Eduardo Hoidal is the Head of People & Culture at Global Maritime, a leading maritime and offshore engineering firm. He oversees the global HR strategy and lead the HR team across all its locations across the full spectrum of HR activities.  

With previous HR leadership roles at Nexans, FMC technologies and Technip, he brings extensive experience in HR strategy and HR operations. With more than 15 years of experience in advanced HR across multiple countries and business cultures his expertise is crucial in fostering a productive and engaged workforce at Global Maritime. 

Sarah James joined Global Maritime in 2019 and leads the company’s global HR function from the London office. She is responsible for shaping strategic HR policies and ensuring a consistent, people-focused approach across all regions. Her expertise spans employee relations, compliance, recruitment, and coaching. 

Prior to joining Global Maritime, Sarah spent a decade at Koch Supply & Trading, where she managed HR operations across the UK and Asia-Pacific. She brings a strong international perspective and a hands-on approach to supporting Global Maritime’s diverse and growing workforce. 

Anny Erfjord Lingsten joined Global Maritime in 2022 and serves as Employee Engagement Officer, based in the Stavanger office. She is an experienced HR professional with a strong focus on employee engagement, competency development, and quality assurance in HR processes. 

With a background in both the IT and energy industries, Anny brings a broad perspective to her role. She holds an international MBA from BI Norwegian Business School and Fudan University in Shanghai.  

Since joining Global Maritime in 2024, Kyle has been focused on setting the strategic direction for IT Services at a global level. His responsibilities include overseeing IT Governance and Compliance, leading the Continuous Improvement Programme, managing Technical Innovation projects, and supervising daily IT Operations.  

Kyle’s career in IT Management spans a diverse range of environments, from national government, armed forces, and security services to manufacturing and professional sport – bringing a broad and valuable perspective to the role.

Leadership Team

Hannah Crutchley

Chief Safety, Sustainability & Compliance Officer

Hannah Crutchley joined Global Maritime in 2017 and brings over 12 years of international experience in the maritime and offshore energy sector. With a background in safety, sustainability, and project operations, she has held senior roles across EPIC contracting companies before transitioning into marine consultancy. 

Originally from Perth, Australia, Hannah has worked across key energy hubs including Oslo, Stavanger, and London. She is now based in Singapore where she leads the group’s global HSEQ and sustainability function. She is responsible for corporate ESG strategy, internal and external advocacy, incident and risk management, global certifications, and reporting on safety and environmental performance. 

Jonny Logan

Chief Executive
Officer

Jonny is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS). He holds a Master’s degree in Naval Architecture and has more than 20 years of experience in the maritime and offshore industries.

He joined Global Maritime in 2012 and has held a range of senior roles, including Manager of the company’s Scottish operations, where he developed a strong focus on offshore wind.

Before becoming CEO, Jonny led multiple engineering and marine warranty projects, including the construction of the first phase of the Kincardine Floating Wind Farm and the deployment of the STP Buoy at the Aje Field, offshore Nigeria.

Livar Melhus

Chief Financial Officer and
Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Livar joined Global Maritime in 2017 and brings deep financial leadership experience from large, multinational organisations. His background spans group and regional financial management, FP&A, M&A, SEC reporting, and corporate strategy, with previous roles at EY, PwC, and Seadrill.

A state authorised public accountant, Livar holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Auditing from BI Norwegian Business School and is a siviløkonom from the Norwegian School of Economics.

Mats Olsvik

Chief Operating Officer
- Engineering & Execution

Mats joined Global Maritime in 2014 and brings over 20 years of experience in the offshore industry. His expertise includes project management, offshore operations, and international business development. Before joining the company, he held key roles at Viking Moorings and DOF Subsea, specialising in mooring and subsea construction.

In 2015, Mats established Global Maritime’s Marine Operations business stream and successfully grew the team to over 30 professionals by 2022.

Ekkehard Stade

Chief Operating Officer
- Marine

Ekkehard joined Global Maritime in 2008, bringing over 30 years of maritime experience, from deep-sea shipping roles to senior leadership in offshore consultancy. He holds an MSc in Maritime Operations and Management from City University, London.

Starting in London as a DP consultant and Marine Warranty Surveyor, he later established Global Maritime’s presence in Germany. He became Director of Marine Services in 2019 and Marine COO in 2022.

He also serves on the Board of Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors (SOMWS) and contributes to the Joint Natural Resources Committee (JNRC) of the Lloyd’s Market Association.

Scott Cruttenden

Chief Commercial Officer

Scott joined Global Maritime in 2021 and brings over 20 years’ experience in commercial based roles across the maritime sector. This includes senior Business Development roles globally and running an independent strategy consultancy business.

Scott joined us from a senior commercial role with Boskalis Offshore Energy and as our Chief Commercial Officer, is now responsible for GM’s Commercial department (inclusive of Business Development, Marketing, Tendering and Legal).
