Scope of Work

The Southeast Gateway Project involves the construction of a marine pipeline system transporting natural gas from Tuxpan, Veracruz to delivery points in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and Paraíso, Tabasco. The system consists of two main segments: Section 1 (North Pipeline) stretches approximately 500 km, while Section 2 (South Pipeline) extends 190 km and includes an in-line tee offshore Dos Bocas for future expansion. The route runs mostly in shallow waters around 100m depth, reaching up to 200m in places, and includes five shore crossings at three landfall locations. Global Maritime provided Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) services throughout the campaign, ensuring safe execution and regulatory compliance.

Challenges

The project presented multiple challenges, including oversight for stiff, heavy, large-diameter pipelay operations in shallow water environments with strictly limited design environment for shore approaches. These conditions required careful planning, precise execution, and the ability to respond quickly to shifting operational constraints and frequent weather-related delays.

Outcome – Results and Deliverables

Global Maritime supported the project by maintaining a consistent presence, delivering experienced surveyors on short notice throughout the year-long campaign. Risk was successfully reduced to ALARP levels through close collaboration with the client, contractors, and underwriters, ensuring confidence in every critical decision. Our project team, with experience on similar projects in the region, was able to navigate these risks and provide valuable input into go/no-go scenarios.
