Scope of work

Global Maritime was responsible for the Marine Operations related to removal of the Turret Mooring Riser System for the Rangrid FSO at the Gina Krog field. This comprised recovery of all equipment, including dredging operations and cleaning operations, with the aim of leaving the seabed in accordance with requirements from the authorities.

Equipment removed ranged from GRP covers, spools, riser and riser bases, mooring lines and STL buoys.  Some of the equipment was to be scrapped, while other equipment was to be re-used.

Challenges

The operations needed to be carried out during the autumn season, in the harsh environment in the North Sea due to the timing of the demob of the FSO. Therefore, a method that limited environmental exposure was utilised , whilst taking advantage of every available weather window

Outcome – Results and Deliverables

All equipment was safely recovered and transported to decommissioning / refurbishment yard.
