Scope of work

The bp operated liquefied natural gas (LNG) project, located on the maritime border of Senegal and Mauritania, comprises a subsea production system tied back to a pre-treatment Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which subsequently transfers gas to a nearshore HUB for a Floating Liquified Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel to condition gas for export via LNG carrier vessels.

The GM scope of work included the maneuvering, berthing and mooring hook-up of Golar Gimi, which is the 294m long FLNG, at the HUB. Being received at the handover location, Golar Gimi was connected to 5 harbour tugs which were provided by Saipem, in order for it to be berthed alongside the HUB.

Outcome

The mooring arrangement that consisted of 26no. mooring lines, 14no. conventional and 12no. dampeners, were made up of nylon and aramid ropes and steel wires. A final FLNG positioning tolerance of 300mm was achieved.
